How to lighten the future?

Toronto night skyline

The other day, a good friend send me an article on “How will the cities of the future be lit?” .

The article references the terrifying consequences of having cities illuminated 24/7 (massive energy consumption and carbon emission, and serious health consequences) and gives smart solutions to tackle the problem from phosphorescent trees, streetlights fueled by light emitting algae, glow-in-the-dark concrete and smart scheduling planning based on Big Data. An article worth reading!

These amazing solutions made me dream of future cities where humankind and nature come together.

Let’s hope THAT future is not far away…
